Digital verification takes 5-10 minutes and results are typically available the same day. Video call verification takes 15-20 minutes by appointment. In-person verification is completed during your office visit.

For digital verification, you need a valid passport, UK/EU driving licence, or UK Biometric Residence Permit (BRP). For video call and in-person verification, you need two documents: one photo ID from Group A and one supporting document from Group B (such as a utility bill or bank statement). After we verify your identity, we notify Companies House. They will email your unique Personal Code directly to you within a few days. You'll use this code for all future company filings.

Yes, TaxStats ID is an Authorised Corporate Service Provider (ACSP) registered with Companies House. Our registration number is AP006589.

No. Once you have a Personal Code, it works for all your directorships. You only need to verify your identity once, and the same code applies to every company where you are a director or PSC.

From the relevant deadline, you will not be able to file your company's Confirmation Statement until all directors and PSCs have verified identities with an ACSP. This could result in your company being struck off the register.

Identity verification for company directors and people with significant control (PSCs) is a legal requirement under the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023. It became mandatory from 18 November 2025, with a transition period tied to your company's next Confirmation Statement date. The aim is to reduce fraud by confirming the real people behind UK companies.

Both routes produce the same Companies House Personal Code. GOV.UK One Login is the free, do-it-yourself route, but its digital check needs a biometric passport or a valid UK driving licence. Verifying through an ACSP like TaxStats ID accepts a wider range of documents and offers video and in-person options, which is useful for overseas directors or anyone without standard UK documents. You only need to verify once, by either route.

Digital verification is £39, video call is £49, and in-person is £59 (£99 priority). The price you see is the price you pay — there are no hidden charges. Our fee is for our own verification service and is separate from any statutory fees Companies House sets; for identity verification itself, Companies House does not charge a fee.

Yes. We are supervised by the ACCA for anti-money-laundering compliance and handle your data under UK GDPR. Documents are processed securely and encrypted, verification is carried out using Stripe Identity for the digital route, and we retain verification records for the period required by AML regulations. We do not sell your data or share it except as required by law or to complete your Companies House submission.

Yes. We verify directors and PSCs worldwide. Digital verification works with a biometric passport from any country; if you do not have one, our video call option accepts a wider range of documents so you can still complete your check remotely.

Your Personal Code is unique to you as an individual and proves your identity is verified — it is used across all your directorships and PSC roles. Your company authentication code is a separate 6-character code issued to the company and used to file documents with Companies House. They are different things used for different purposes.
