Verified your identity but still getting letters from Companies House?
You've probably done the first step and not the second. Verifying your identity and filing your PSC verification statement are two different things — and the letter is about the statement. Verifying again won't stop it. Here's what's actually needed.
TaxStats ID is a private service, not a government website. We are a Companies House Authorised Corporate Service Provider (ACSP AP006589) and charge a service fee to verify your identity and file on your behalf. You are not required to use us — you can verify directly with Companies House for free via GOV.UK.
Two steps, not one
Almost everyone who's "still getting letters" has done step 1 and not step 2.
Verify your identity
You prove who you are and Companies House issues your personal code. One code covers all your directorships and PSC roles. You only do this once.
From £39
File the PSC verification statement
The statement is filed against the company to confirm your verified identity. This is what the letter is chasing. Until it's filed, the letters keep coming.
From £60
Verifying again won't stop the letters. If you already have your personal code, a second verification changes nothing — the missing step is the statement.
Verifying your identity and filing your PSC statement are two different things
Pick the one that matches your situation — most people only need one.
I need to verify my identity
You're a director or PSC and don't yet have a Companies House personal code — or you've been asked to verify. We verify you and Companies House issues your code.
I need to file my PSC verification statement
You've had a letter from Companies House about your PSC verification statement, or you already have your personal code. Verifying again won't clear it — the statement is the missing step. We file it for you.
Need both? Verify first, then file — or call us and we'll tell you exactly which applies to you.
"I verified — why am I still getting letters?"
Because the letter isn't about your identity check — it's about the PSC verification statement, a separate filing made against the company. Verifying your identity gives you a personal code; the statement tells Companies House that the company's PSC has been verified. They're recorded separately, so it's completely normal to have done one and not the other.
- You have your personal code → you've done step 1.
- Still getting letters → step 2 (the statement) hasn't been filed yet.
We file the statement for you — using your existing personal code if you already have one. If you verified with us, it's just £21; otherwise it's a one-off £60. The VS01 is a one-off filing, so there's no annual subscription.
Just need to verify your identity and get your Companies House personal code? That's our Identity Verification — £39.
There's a deadline. PSC verification statements are due within a set window, and once it closes the statement is overdue and the company is at risk of penalties. If you've had a letter, treat it as due now — we can usually file the same working day once we have your personal code.
PSC verification statement — your questions
I verified my identity but I'm still getting letters from Companies House. Why?
Because verifying your identity and filing your PSC verification statement are two different steps. Verifying your identity gets you a Companies House personal code. The letter is chasing the second step — the PSC verification statement, which is filed against the company to confirm your verified identity. Until that statement is filed, the letters continue. Verifying again does not clear it.
What is a PSC verification statement?
A PSC verification statement confirms to Companies House that a Person with Significant Control has completed identity verification. It is filed against the company (not the person). It is separate from verifying your identity: you verify once to get your personal code, then the statement links that verified identity to the company.
I already verified — do I need to verify again to stop the letters?
No. If you already have your Companies House personal code, verifying again does nothing and will not stop the letters. What you need is the PSC verification statement filed. We can file it for you using your existing personal code.
How much does it cost to file a PSC verification statement?
We file your PSC verification statement (VS01) for a one-off £60. If you verified your identity with us, the statement is only £21 because we already hold your details. The VS01 is a one-off filing, so there is no annual subscription.
What happens if I don't file my PSC verification statement?
It is a legal requirement under the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act. Companies House will keep writing to you, and continued non-compliance can lead to financial penalties for the company and its officers, and ultimately action against the company. Filing the statement is what stops the letters.
Do I need to be verified before the statement can be filed?
Yes. The statement confirms a completed identity verification, so you need your Companies House personal code first. If you have not verified yet, you verify (from £39) and then file the statement. If you already have your code, we can file the statement straight away.
